Senior Legal Officer in Nigeria

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and seasoned Senior Legal Officer to provide expert legal guidance, lead litigation matters, and support our organization’s strategic objectives. The successful candidate will have a strong track record in litigation, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

– Provide expert legal advice on litigation, dispute resolution, and regulatory matters
– Lead and manage litigation cases, including court appearances and alternative dispute resolution
– Develop and implement litigation strategies to minimize risk and protect company interests
– Conduct legal research, analyze laws, regulations, and court decisions
– Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents
– Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and mitigate legal risks
– Manage external legal counsel and consultants
– Supervise junior legal staff

Requirements:

– Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B)
– 10 years post-call experience as a Legal Officer or equivalent role
– Called to the Nigerian Bar (BL)
– Excellent knowledge of Nigerian corporate law, litigation, and dispute resolution
– Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
– Proven track record in litigation and dispute resolution
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team
– Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal software
